Long story short, Yutaro-sensei taught Japanese for nearly 7 years, of which two years were spent on volunteer teaching. That was the start of a long road that took me from being little more than a painfully unconfident teacher to being featured with countless positive feedback and successful results.
Most teachers start with theories on teaching rather than practical experience. What makes me different is that I started with practical approaches, always starting with putting myself in the learner’s shoes, a myriad of trial and error approaches to understand THEIR FEELINGS and to identify their problems. So I have always been standing at the learner's side to see things from their viewpoint. In another word, that’s YOURside, rather than the teacher’s supervising side. I believe this attitude to align myself with your viewpoint earned me these positive feedback.
What’s more, I’ve also taught myself English and Mandarin to the fluent and competent level. Through putting consistent effort into my second and third language, I really got to understand what it means to study a foreign language and what it takes to get to this level from scratch. I can tell you first-hand being poor in the language you learn is a TERRIBLE feeling, knowing that people are doubting you and judging you.
So
that's my life story, as well as my teaching theory. I didn’t get the theory from textbooks I learnt it the hard way and natural way. I know your struggle so I respect it.

When it comes to teaching, the level of my English matters BIG TIMES. But no worries about it. I found my English is capable enough to teach Japanese because I graduated from University of Queensland, one of the top 3 uni in Australia.

I can teach how
Japanese people think
What is tightly connected to learning Japanese is the way how Japanese people think. They have different thinking mechanism, and to reach the mastery level of Japanese, you'd need to know that. With a science backgound, I am good at explaining these.
